S. Thomas’ prevail to record first win

Defending champions S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia prevailed with a close nine-run win on Parabola against Maliyadeva College at Mt. Lavinia yesterday to record their first win.

S. Thomas’ helped by a knock of 57 by Malith Perera taking first lease of wicket made a modest score of 187 and Maliyadeva in their turn were 151 for 6 when rain stopped proceedings with the target at stoppage being 160 runs.

Rahula Matara recorded a six wicket win over Vidyartha in another match played at Polonnaruwa.

At Mt Lavinia – S. Thomas’ won by nine runs on Parabola
S. Thomas’:
187 for 9 in 50 overs (Malith Perera 57, Dhiren de Silva 24, Thisen Eheliyagoda 20 n.o.: Thimira Viraj 2/14, Sakindu Wijeratne 2/34)
Maliyadeva: 151 for 6 in 35 overs (Chaluka Atapattu 25, Mathessha Weerasinghe 49 n.o.)

At Polonnaruwa – Rahula won by six wickets

142 in 49 overs (Shamal Priyabashana 33, Kavishka Hapugoda 28, Manjula Dulneth 4/34, Pasindu Avishka 3/40)
Rahula Matara: 143 for 4 in 45.5 overs (Tharindu Rajapakse 58, Thathsara Dilshan 21, Binura Sanketh 39 n.o., Medunaka Wijetileke 2/27)
