 The preliminary round matches of the Mercantile Volleyball Championships 2022, conducted by the Mercantile Volleyball Association (MVA) will be held on October 29 and 30 at the Volleyball House Indoor Stadium in Galle. 

 
 This tournament, revived after a lapse of two years, was scheduled for October 22 and 23 but was postponed to next week due to the prevailing weather conditions in the country.   
 Over 65 teams are set to participate in this event and the final round matches of the tournament will be held on November 13 at the National Youth Services Centre in Maharagama.   
 The tournament will be conducted in two categories including MVA-PRO for both Men and Women and the Novices for both Men and Women.   

 Meanwhile, the Mercantile Super League Volleyball Tournament will not be staged this year.   

 The winners of the Men’s MVA-PRO Tournament will receive a cash award of Rs. 150,000, runners-up will receive Rs. 100,000, and third place will receive Rs. 50,000.   
 The winners of the Women’s Tournament will receive a cash award of Rs. 100,000, runners-up will receive Rs. 60,000 and third place team will receive Rs. 30,000.    In addition, the most outstanding player of the Men’s Tournament will receive Rs. 150,000 and the most outstanding player of the Women’s Tournament will receive Rs. 100,000.   

 The winners of the Novices Tournament will receive Rs. 50,000, runners-up will receive Rs. 30,000 and third place team will receive Rs. 20,000.   

 The best player of the Men’s and Women’s Novices Tournament will receive Rs. 50,000 each.
