Sri Lanka have named their 21-member Test squad for the tour of South Africa, with no replacement named for the injured Angelo Mathews.
Mathews’ name was approved by the Sports Minister Namal Rajapasksa for the tour, but his hamstring injury during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) semi-final has now ruled him out.
Batsman Oshada Fernando, who was also injured during the LPL, has returned and will make the trip to South Africa. Three uncapped players have been included in the squad, with Minod Bhanuka, Santhush Gunathilaka and Dilshan Madushanka in the 21-member squad. The squad was involved in a residential training camp in Kandy before moving into the bio-secure bubble in place for the LPL.
The same squad will be used for the home Test series against England, with Mathews expected to return for that series.
Squad:
Dimuth Karunaratne (Captain), Kusal Janith Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Mendis, Oshada Fernando, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Minod Bhanuka, Lahiru Thirimanne, Lasith Embuldeniya, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dilurwan Perera, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Dushmantha Chameera, Dasun Shanaka, Santhush Gunathilake, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka.
