Lithium, Ruvi emerge champions

Lithium Jayabandu and Ruvi Lewkebandara emerged boys’ Under 12 and girls’ Under 14 champions respectively at the 105th Colombo Tennis Championship played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo on Thursday.

Fourth seed Jayabandu pulled off a thrilling two sets to one win over seventh seed Methika Wickramasinghe to clinch the title.

On the other hand top seeded Lewkebandara had little difficulty in brushing off the challenge of Dinara de Silva by two sets to nil.

The boys’ Under 14 doubles final which was also worked off concurrently saw the pair of Ransath Peiris and Sandaru Guruge clinching the title with a hard fought two sets to one win against the pair of Sandas Uggodaarachchi and Tharuk Marasunghe. The championship will be continued today.

Boys’ Under 18 – Thehan Wijemanne beat Zaidh Zihar 7-5, 6-3, Kiran Vairawanathan beat Rakesh Ratnasingham 6-1, 6-0
