Dullas appointed Sports Minister

United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Member of Parliament (MP) Dullas Alahapperuma was today (22) appointed as the Minister of Sports, in the caretaker government under newly-elected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.


It was one of three portfolios given to Minister Alahapperuma who will also oversee the Ministries of Education and Youth Affairs.

He takes over from Harin Fernando, of the United National Party (UNP), who resigned from his portfolio last week following Sajith Premadasa's defeat in the Presidential Election.

The caretaker government is expected to function till early next year when the next General Election is likely to be called. (SMD)
