A fine knock of 70 by skipper Ahan Wickramasinghe paved the way for Royal College to record a comfortable 64-run win over D. S. Senanayake College in the Under 19 inter-school limited over cricket tournament encounter played at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Wickramasinghe’s knock helped Royal, who took first lease of the wicket, make a formidable score of 319 for 7 and DSS in their turn, despite a ton by Abishek Liyanaarchchi, were able to muster a score of only 255 runs.

The battle between two unbeaten teams, St. Peter’s College and Mahinda College, in another match of the same tournament played at Galle saw St. Peter’s helped by half tons from Shanuka Galagoda and Wanuja Kumara recording an easy six-wicket win to record their fourth successive win and inflict the first defeat for Mahinda College.
