The Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees has named Aaqil Jamaldeen as the Referee for the first-leg of the 75th annual Bradby Shield game between Royal College and Trinity College which is scheduled for June 1 at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.
An old boy of Royal College, Colombo, Jamaldeen would be the youngest ever Referee to blow a Bradby Shield game at the age of 24 years.
His assistants for the game would be Ishanka Abeykoon and Isuru Perera.
Aaqil joins an elite band of old Trinitians and old Royalists who have officiated at the Bradby Shield which includes P. A. Buultjens (Trinity), S. G. De Zoysa (Royal), Mahesa Rodrigo (Royal), Malcolm Wright (Trinity), Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa (Trinity), Bertie Dias (Trinity), Ashey Cader (Royal), Dr. K. B. Sangakkara (Trinity) and S. W. Chang (Trinity).
