The Association of International Distance Races (AIMS) has slotted the 2021 LSR Colombo International Marathon on October 3 in their calendar.
This international marathon could not be held in 2019 because of the Easter attacks and this year owing to COVID-19 pandemic.
The world renowned LSR Colombo International Marathon will be conducted in four distances: 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon.
Organised by the country’s leading tourism and leisure company Lanka Sportsreizen (LSR), the international marathon attract 6,500 athletes from 54 countries each year.
Launched in 1998 as the LSR Marathon it was later rebranded by AIMS as the LSR Colombo International Marathon.
AIMS announced the date of the LSR Colombo International Marathon after drawing up the schedule for 2021.
“We cannot foresee the future considering the health situation in the country. However, if the situation returns to normal we are ready to organize the event which was not held for the past two years,” a spokesman for LSR said.
The 2021 edition of the LSR marathon will be held as usual from Colombo to Negombo.
