Some 150 national and international table tennis players will be taking part in the Maheepala Herath Challenge Trophy All Island Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2020, according to Kegalle District Table Tennis Association Secretary Thushara Sampath. This tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Kegalle Municipal Council Indoor Stadium.
No table tennis tournament could be held because of the COVID-19 pandemic and this is the first all island competition to be held after a long time.

This tournament will be for Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles only.

There are 95 entries for the Men’s Singles and 55 participants for the Women’s Singles, according to the organisers.  The Women’s Singles will be held on January 30 and the Men’s Singles on January 31.

Although they included age group event for Under-10, 12, 15 and 18, it was cancelled on the advise of the Health Ministry because school children would be participating.
