Healthguard Pharmacy Ltd, the country’s premier urban pharmaceutical, wellness and beauty retail chain opened its re-designed flag ship store located at Dharmapala Mawatha recently.

The opening ceremony was graced by Unilever Chairperson Shazia Syed, Munir Shaikh, Group Chairman Sunshine Holdings PLC, Sanjeew Samaranayake, Managing Director, Hemas Pharmaceuticals, G. Sathasivam, Founder Chairman, Sunshine Healthcare Lanka, Vish Govindasamy, Group Managing Director, Sunshine Holdings PLC, Shyam Sathasivam, Managing Director, Sunshine Healthcare Lanka and other distinguished guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Shyam Sathasivam said “Our view of healthcare retailing is not limited to the narrow focus of pharmaceuticals. To us healthcare retailing is about enhanced living (wellness), looking and feeling better (beauty and healing).”

As a subsidiary of Sunshine Healthcare Lanka Limited, Healthguard began operations in 2004 with an objective of being a healthcare retailing model in South Asia. Today with an established network of 17 pharmacies across the Western Province, Healthguard endeavours to create a different shopping experience through a wide range of product offerings to its customers.

“Our business model aims to be more than just an ordinary pharmacy in our offerings, formats and solutions. It is about taking people “from sickness to happiness”. Hence, we have taken steps to inculcate this approach to healthcare retailing in all of our people working across our 17 outlets,” Shyam noted.
The newly designed store aims to be the go-to destination for people seeking a holistic approach to better living. Housing a wide collection of brands including colour cosmetics, perfumes, spectacles, mobile phone accessories etc. within a larger floor area, the new store has been designed for convenience while offering a richer shopping experience.

The products at the new outlet are aesthetically displayed with all items presented in an easy, methodical manner. The flow of aisles and additional checkout counters contribute to a speedier service and an enjoyable shopping experience.

The launch of the redesigned store is in line with the company’s focus on offering a wider range of healthcare and personal products to engage customer preferences. Beauty Advisers are also on hand to help customers make decisions on cosmetic and skin care products.

Creating a differentiated in-store experience, the Healthguard outlet offers the opportunity for self-service unlike any other pharmacy in Sri Lanka. Offering a wider range of local cum international Beauty and Wellness products in addition to Pharmaceuticals has elevated Healthguard in setting the benchmark for healthcare retailing in the country.

The company’s ability to engage customers and their exceptional customer service has resulted in a loyal, fast growing customer base with increased sales volumes, ensuring that Healthguard is reinforced as a destination for healthy living.
