The article titled above, that appeared in Daily Mirror on 02.04.2019, is a must-read for all patriotic citizens and the Sinhala Buddhist ultra-nationals. Once again, there seems to be a strong campaign to escalate Sinhala-Muslim clashes and create chaos in the hapless Muslim community. Attacks on the Muslim community in several areas resulted in the loss of many lives and the destruction of Muslim-owned properties worth some billions of rupees. Of course, they were all one-sided attacks. 

People worldwide have begun to realise that the religion they claim to follow is merely ceremonial. This was mentioned by President Maithripala Sirisena at a gathering in connection with the campaign to eradicate alcohol and drugs from Sri Lanka

There are several vested interests in these campaigns. Some of the well-known are; 1) Politicians; 2) Selfish and greedy businessmen; 3) Extremist Tamil political parties and the Tamil diaspora; 4) Those campaigning for the merger of the North and East; and 5) The international community. However, there may be others we are not aware of. 

The reasons for destructive campaigns are; 1) Politicians blaming each other and trying to win Muslim votes; 2) Selfish and greedy businessmen funding rebels and extremists to gain advantage by destroying established Muslim businesses; 3) Tamils in the North and East being keen to create riots in a bid to gain international support for their demand of a federal government; 4) Muslims being an obstruction for the said Tamil demand – they believe a major Sinhala-Muslim riot will force Muslims to support the Tamil demand in order to safeguard themselves (Muslims) from extremist Sinhala Buddhists; and 5) International support for Tamil separatists is no secret. Communal clashes in the country will justify the demand for a political settlement according to their plan. 

This destructive campaign “will soon be felt in real life” as mentioned by RJ and the end result will be Sri Lanka losing one-third of its land and two-third of the sea. Subsequent to a comparison with recent European history, PL rightly warns of Islamization in Sri  Lanka. In fact, Islam is the fastest spreading religion in the West. Churches are converted to Islamic places of worship across Europe. Westerners have lost faith in their religions and find Islam as a solution to their problems. Free thinking and freedom of choice of religion is the result of growth of Islam in the West.

If there were freedom of thought and freedom for choice of religion, people in our region too may follow the West.
