The Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement opened a Covid-19 Knowledge Centre recently as part of its humanitarian services carried out to the public.
The unit was opened on February 19th by the former Vice Chancellor of Ruhunu University and Chairman of National Science Foundation Prof. Ranjith Senaratne in the presence of Emeritus President and Founder of Sarvodaya Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, President of Sarvodaya Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, Executive Director Chaminda Rajakaruna, Director of Projects J. M. Niswi and Deshodaya National Coordinator Nishantha Preethiraj.
The aim of this Centre is to disseminate all data and information from projects and other activities carried out in relation to Covid-19 by all units of Sarvodaya, Ministry of Health, Epidemiology Unit and work done by any other government and non-government organizations on Covid-19.
Furthermore, the Sarvodaya Covid-19 response programme hopes to add national and international credible information in relation to Covid-19 to build a Resource Hub at the Sarvodaya Headquarters.
In addition initiated on Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne’s concept, the Suwodaya Community Service Mobile Unit travels across the country educating and raising awareness amongst urban and rural communities to help the community stay safe and protected from this pandemic.
