Imported milk powder contains harmful substances:Wimal

UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansa said yesterday an interim report submitted by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) in parliament had revealed that imported milk powder contained substances harmful to human consumption. He told parliament that the CAA had submitted the report on the issues pertaining to the imported milk powder.  
He said according to the report, it was confirmed that substances unfit for human consumption was included in imported milk powder and that it puts lives of children in danger.
The MP said even though the Speaker said pasteurized milk and fresh milk was provided to MPs in parliament, the report says that there was no regulation on fresh milk in Sri Lanka. He requested the Speaker to allocate a day’s debate on the report and leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella assured to allocate a debate on the matter.
