Foreigner critically injured after jumping off moving bus

A foreign woman who had jumped off a moving bus in Katugoda Galle area had been admitted to the ICU of the Karapitiya hospital for treatment of serious injuries she had sustained. Informs Galle harbour police.   
The woman identified as Yalemvina Lajhavova (38) is a Russian national and sources revealed that she had boarded the bus at Mirissa in order to travel to Galle and in the process her bag had dropped out of the bus and her request to the bus driver to stop the bus had not been heeded as the bus could not be stopped suddenly in the middle of the road. The woman had then jumped off the moving bus to retrieve her bag and sustained severe injuries due to her fall.   


She had been rushed immediately to the Karapitiya hospital. The hospital authorities had failed to record a statement from her as she was in a serious condition.   


Meanwhile the police had taken into custody the driver of the bus and further investigations are continuing.
