Twenty-one foreigners were arrested by the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Wellampitiya yesterday (03) for illegally staying in the country.
Department of Immigration and Emigration media spokesman B. G. G. Milinda said, 19 Indians and two Bangladesh nationals were among those arrested.
They were arrested at a construction site in Wellampitiya on charges of violating visa conditions and overstaying in the country.
The persons arrested aged between 25 and 40, were detained at the Mirihana Detention Centre for further action, the spokesman said.
