Veteran movie enthusiast and filmmaker Parakrama Jayasinghe passed away recently and his funeral took place at the Borella General Cemetery last Thursday. Parakrama who also played a pivotal role behind the success story of the popular ‘Kumbiyo’ tele serial, made his directorial movie debut in 1994 with ‘Ekada Wehi’. After a 10-year break he made ‘Que Sera’, deviating from the hackneyed style of filmmaking. In one of his interviews with Daily Mirror Life Impulse, Parakrama said it took him ten years to make a film after ‘Ekada Wehi’ largely because there was no stimulation and he got the feeling that the Sinhala cinema was heading towards stagnation.
