A video of a safari driver with a group of tourists chasing an elephant is going viral on social media. The video is said to be from the Yala national park.

It has been shared by the Indian Forest Services officer, Surendra Mehra on Twitter. The video shows a group of tourists in their vehicle followed an elephant walking in the Yala national park.

They were seen clicking pictures, chattering, and also laughing while sitting in the vehicle.

However, their enjoyment turned into a nightmare after the elephant got irritated with their activities.

A few moments later, the elephant turned back and started chasing the tourist vehicle. The tourists inside the vehicle were heard screaming and the driver can be seen reversing the vehicle as the animal began chasing them.

Luckily, they escaped from the elephant as the driver changed the direction while the elephant moved the other way.

An IFS officer tweeted the video with a perfect caption.

“Just see the level of patience shown by the elephant. But, when you intrude into their life, they react,”. Surender Mehra said in the caption of his post.

Sri Lankan uncivilized 'Jada Roaches' and the laughing 'Kalu makka's'

I am not surprised. We were in Sri Lanka in summer 2019 and the drivers in Yala were very rude. It was a very bad and expensive experience

Some of the drivers are idiots and paedophiles, I remember one idiot making inappropriate advances towards a 13yr old foreigner

Clear harassment of the elephant. Such people should be banned from all national parks.

Not sure whether the Yala and other park Safari guides and drivers need special training of how to interact when encountered with wild life? This video does calls for it.

This is the problem with "Yako buggers". they doesn't know to behave and respect the environment.

That is because politicians are backing these rowdy drivers and do not limit the jeep licences and the visitors. These crooked drivers without any education and knowledge of the wildlife are only behind the tip money and do not care for the animals. Because of the violation of the rules even the former Director of wildlife, a very famous veterinary resigned. He was not backed in his decisions by the political goons.

Because of poverty in their families drivers often behave beyond their capacity.

Tourists often come with drivers and vehicles hired outside Yala. This practice needs to be stopped. Only use trained drivers and trackers from Yala National Park itself. Will benefit experience for visitors and animals.

These are the type of scum tourists that are being brought into the country by these idiot ministers.

Regret. Unfortunately the driver and the tourists escaped. Document all safari drivers
