A sub-inspector and a police constable were injured after stones were pelted at them when they had raided a gambling den at Dodangoda, Kalutara today, police said.

They said police had arrived at the location following a tip-off received by them.

The gamblers had fled the scene.

However, police personnel had taken one suspect into their custody and stones were pelted at them by a group of individuals when they attempted to take a motorcycle into police custody, which was near the gambling den.

The two cops are currently receiving treatments at the Nagoda General Hospital.

Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

If the foolish gambling organisers had paid the Police in advance this raid would not have happened itself. This is the sad truth about Sri Lanka but nobody wants to talk about it. We only hear good news about the Police.
