There will be no power cuts until further notice as relevant fuel stocks have been received to relevant Power Stations, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said.

PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake in a special statement released to the media said the decision was taken after an overall review carried out into the matter.

“The decision was also influenced by the inconvenience that could cause to the students who are sitting for the Advanced Level examination if power cuts are imposed,” he added.

Moreover, he said a capacity of about 200MW of electricity has been added to the nation grid from the third generator of the Norochcholai coal power plant, which resumed its operations today. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Hilarious! Try telling that to the people in the outer areas of Peradeniya. Power cuts three or four times a day, every single day of the year!
