Navy rescues 10 fishermen distressed at sea

Ten Sri Lankan fishermen, whose boat capsized off Ambalangoda had been rescued by the Navy on Saturday.

According to the Navy, a fishing craft which had left the Hikkaduwa fishery harbour on Saturday had met with an accident at the sea.

A Naval craft on petrol had then promptly responded to and went on the rescue mission on the directives of Naval Headquarters.

The Navy said the distressed fishermen were found at 20 nautical miles off Galle Light House and the fishermen were rescued with great difficulty.

The rescued fishermen were brought to the Galle harbour and they were handed over to their relatives.
