NMCRP requests Health DG to issue statement

The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection (NMCRP) today requested the Health Director General to issue a statement whether the coconut oil currently in the market contain carcinogen alpha toxin or any other toxin.

NMCRP President Ranjith Withanage said there is a rumour spreading inthe society that the coconut oil currently being sold in the market contains a carcinogenic constituents.

According to the Food Act No. 26 of 1980, it clearly mentioned that it is the responsibility of the Helth Director General to provide non-toxic food to the consumer, Mr. Withanage said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

    Let the public know the names of the importers whose oil is contaminated and the brand name in which it is marketed. This is to ensure that oil pure of any contamination is not affected .As there is a general conception all imported oil is contaminated
