A temporary increase in the showery conditions over the South-western part of the island is most likely during the next two days (June 8, 9), the Metrology Department announced today.
They said that showers forecast in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.
Also, they warned of heavy rains above 75 mm in some places while several spells of showers in Mannar district. Showers or thundershowers would couple be expected in some places in Uva and Eastern provinces during the evening or night.
Therefore, the general public are advised to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from dangers posed by gutsy winds and lightning during thundershowers, the Department added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
