While claiming that open tenders should be called for when leasing out a state property, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake today urged the Government to reveal the lease agreement pertaining to the leasing out of Arcade Independence Square to Softlogic Holdings for a period of 10 years.
He told Parliament that the Government should inform Parliament whether open tenders were called for when leasing out the building and the list of bidders who had offered biddings and the list of bids they had offered.
Mr. Dissanayake said when a state property was leased out, it should be given to the highest bidder.
He said the Government should also reveal who took the decision to lease out the building.
He said this was also a transaction similar to the sugar and coconut oil deal as the owner of this company was also in the circle of the businessmen linked to the Government. ( Ajith Sriwardana and Yohan Perera)
