It is constitutionally and politically impossible: Minister Gammanpila

Minister Udaya Gammanpila yesterday pooh poohed a reported speculation that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of India was in a move to form a political party in Sri Lanka and added that it was constitutionally and politically impossible.

Minister Gammanpila said people in Sri Lanka would not accept a political party rooted in a foreign country. Elections Commission Chairman Nimal G. Punchihewa said Sri Lanka’s electoral laws do not permit political parties in a foreign country to do politics here. “However, a political party or group in Sri Lanka is permitted to associate with any foreign entity but foreigners are not permitted to get elected to any political office in Sri Lanka,” he noted.(SANDUN A. Cart before the Horse. This idiot has apparently lost his priorities. There are diverse ways and means if India wants to have some political roots in the North/North East. All they have to do is fund an indigenous political group and inculcate it with Indian idealogy.

Gamman is a great minister for this country - he is no second to Mervin Silva and Weerawansa. We must promote one of them as the PM of this sinking boat!! They will take it out of water and dry it quickly.

Very correct, it is best to do it the way China has done i.e. bankrupt the country and then make them fully dependent on Chinese finances, then even if you tell them to give their wives

India is always a problem for its neighbours.... They will make sure to keep their neighbours under its control. If not, pull them down If we listen to them, we are good guys. Else they will tarnish your image
