The Meteorology Department said today heavy rainfalls exceeding 150 mm could be expected over most parts of the country especially in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Central provinces.

They said showery weather is expected to continue over most parts of the island. Cloudy skies can be expected over the island due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity,

However, heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places elsewhere, they said.

The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers, the Department said.
