The government is to engage the member states of the UNHRC at the topmost level regarding the resolution to be moved by the core group of countries working on Sri Lanka, a top source said yesterday.

The zero draft of the resolution has been sent to the Sri Lankan authorities. According to the source, the content of the resolution is identical to the 30/1 resolution adopted in 2015 though worded differently.

Sri Lanka is likely to reject the resolution as a result. However, the final decision will be taken after broad engagements with the member states at the top level.

Besides, the Sri Lankan leaders are expected to hold talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan during his official visit regarding cooperation at the UNHRC.(KELUM BANDARA)

Sri Lanka knew, more than a year back that the UNHC is bringing this resolution. Govt should have taken necessary initiatives from that time , consulted our friendly countries, instead of rushing now.
