Govt. approval to provide financial assistance to curb COVID: Amaraweera
The Cabinet has approved the necessary financial provisions to provide all necessary needs to the health sector to control COVID epidemic, Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.
Addressing the media at the Ministry yesterday he said there shouldn't be no delay, even at least a month in procuring medicines, injections, medical equipment, oxygen, etc.,
The should swing into action immediately to control the diseases and maintain patient care.
Correspondingly, the Cabinet approval was granted to ease the tender process and to purchase all necessary healthcare needs under emergency purchases, Minister said.
“Many politicians are criticizing the measures taken by the government to control the COVID outbreak. This is a global pandemic. Instead of criticizing the government at this juncture, everyone should join hands to protect the country and its people from this epidemic,” the Minister said.
“During the meeting, it was also discussed about the provision of transport facilities for public health inspectors. It was decided to take steps to provide them with vehicle they need on rental basis,” he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
