Vice Chancellor of Jaffna University Prof. Srisatkunarajah today laid the foundation stone to reconstruct the war monument at the Jaffna University, which was demolished recently.
The Vice Chancellor said the decision was taken to rebuild the monument considering the students’ protests and the Harthal launched in North and East.
The momument was flattened by the university administration, as it was seen as an obstruction to unity and reconciliation. (Sithum Chaturange)

Let him rebuild it at his own cost. You need to think before you leap

Makes sense. This government thrives on creating rifts among communities. Destroying the monument is highly sensitive and a disrespectful act. Its just a memorial to remember the war victims. Absolutely nothing to do with terrorists. But then what more can you expect from this government? They are diverting peoples attention from real issues to cover up their faiulures.

There are no middle class Jaffna Tamil students studying at the Jaffna University, they are all at Peradenia or Colmbo Universities. Jaffna University needs to be shut.

ALL OF THEM SHOULD UNDERGO PCR TESTS AS NO ONE IS WEARING FACE MASK PROPERLY AND NOT KEEPING SOCIAL DISTANCE.

No need to close the university. Where's the spine of the self-called hero of this government? If this happened, before 2020, there would have been protests, all over the country of the fake, self-called patriots of Pohottuwa.

Many countries around the world condemned the demolition so the reconstruction was forced.
