The Dharmapuram Police yesterday (30) arrested five persons for digging to unearth gold suspected to have been buried by the LTTE during the war at an abandoned LTTE camp at Wattakachchilamayanur in Kilinochchi.
Police also seized a luxury vehicle, a high tech scanner, excavating equipment and six mobile phones along with the suspects.
The suspects were residents of Welimada, Kalutara , Mahiyanganaya and Hambantota.
They were remanded till April 6 after being produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate.
