Eight Peradeniya Uni. undergrads test COVID-19 positive

Eight more final year students of the Peradeniya University's Engineering Faculty have been infected with COVID-19, the Provincial Health Department said.

Earlier, one student of the same faculty had contracted the  virus and following PCR tests conducted on 48 students who were already under quarantine. Eight of them were taken to the Polgolla COVID-19 Treatment Centre after tests confirmed that they had been infected.

About 250 close contacts of the eight students have been sent to serve quarantine.
