EC Chief says ’no’ deposits on Saturday

Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said deposits from presidential candidates will not be accepted on Saturday (5) as it is a public holiday.

However, deposits will be accepted until Sunday (6) 12.00 noon except Saturday Mr. Deshapriya added.

The Daily Mirror asked him whether a candidate could change the symbol after placing deposits on behalf of any such candidate and place deposits for a second time with a different symbol, he responded with ‘no comments’ but added the EC was not concerned on those issues. (Sandun A. Jayasekera)
