Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa received the nod of the Cabinet of Ministers today to appoint a committee to look into the irregularities and malpractices that were said to have taken place in the state-owned banks during the period the previous government was in power.

The committee will look into the alleged wrongdoings at the state-banks; Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank, National Savings Bank and Regional Development Bank and their affiliated institutions, that took place from the period starting January 8, 2015.

Chaired by Former High Court Judge Sisira Ratnayake, the committee is expected to present its report in three months to the Cabinet of Ministers via Finance Ministry Secretary.

Is this because the loans to women whose loans were requested by Mahinda to be given were not given?

The irregularities and malpractices of all Banks should be inquired into by the Central Bank on how criminals are allowed to deposit, transfer and otherwise move funds in millions without any bank checking on the origin or source of such big funds from very ordinary thug or gangster.

The period starts from 2015. The born again man. We were born before 2015 and our money was looted before that. Why not start from 2000 to be fair.

When the committee has some sparetime left: please also look into the irregularities and malpractices of the Rajapaksa family finances. Thank you.

No action after committees reports. Why waste more public funds on useless exercises?
