Committee report probing recent blackout handed over to the Minister
The committee report regarding the recent countrywide power cut on August 17 due to a failure in the transmission system at the Kerawalapitiya Grid-Substation, was handed over to Power Minister Dullas Alahapperuma this evening, the Ministry of Power said.
They said the Minister appointed the nine-member committee headed by Professor Rahula Attalage to investigate the sudden power outage that affected the entire country in order to identify measures to reduce the risk of recurrence of such conditions.
They said the committee had gathered on August 18 and the report was compiled after examining all factors that contributed to the power outage.
The report is to be subjected to a special investigation by the Minister and would be presented to the Cabinet on Wednesday (26).
