When issuing delivery passes for essential services to operate during the ongoing travel restrictions, the Measurement Units, Standards and Services Department (MUSSD) said that care should be taken to ensure the accuracy of the weighing of the measuring equipment.
They uncovered that the majority of traders use weighing and measuring equipment, which are not upto acceptable standards.
MUSSD said that they have received several complaints about the use of inaccurate weighing and measuring equipment when providing basic services such as vegetables, fruits, and groceries.
They said that issuing delivery passes for essential services to operate while traveling should be regulated. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
