A bus heading to Kataragama from Colombo was taken into police custody yesterday along with 51 passengers for violating quarantine regulations, Police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the bus was detected at the Mattala exit point of the Southern Expressway following information received by the Borella police.
He said upon questioning, it was revealed that one passenger who was a permanent resident of isolated Wanathamulla Grama Niladari Division had been among the passengers of the bus and the bus was taken back to Borella police.
The DIG said PCR tests will be carried out on all the passengers today and they have been ordered to follow quarantine regulations by the heath authorities.
He said legal action will be taken against the owner of the bus, bus driver and the assistant of the bus. (AS)
