Members of the committee appointed to conduct an investigation into the dastardly Easter Sunday attacks are to testify before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the same today.

Select Committee Chairman Ananda Kumarasiri told the Daily Mirror that the committee members – Supreme Court Judge Vijith Malalgoda, former IGP N.K. Illangakoon and former Secretary to the Law and Order Ministry Padmasiri Jayamanne – would commence testifying today at 3.30 p.m.

When asked whether today’s session would be the last of proceedings, he said it may not be as Select Committee members wanted more individuals summoned.

“A decision has not yet been taken on summoning President Maithripala Sirisena before the Select Committee. We will decide on summoning the President along with several others later as we too want to conclude proceedings as soon as possible so that we will have sufficient time to prepare the report,” he said.

The Select Committee was to present the report in parliament this week but the deadline was extended by the Speaker by a month following a request made by its members. (Yohan Perera)
