Another Covid-19 patient escaped from the Welikanda Treatment Centre last night and was captured in the Welikanda town within half an hour, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said the escapee was identified as a 28 year-old drug addict from Rajangana.
DIG Rohana said five incidents of Covid-19 patients escaping treatment facilities have been reported from October 4 till today.
“All these escaped persons are either persons addicted to drugs or connected to drugs,” he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

is there something fundamentally wrong with this hospital or Sri Lankans in general? Why do these people discharge themselves? Escape is the wrong word to use as it implies that patients are kept there against their wishes.

Police and security forces are main stakeholders of covid prevention,so it's shame, kind of excuses such as , only five so far, or within 30 minutes patient caught, to a senior police man to say as his excuse
