Steps have been taken to permanent all Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) employees who have more than five years of experience and currently working on a contract basis, Transport State Minister Dilum Amunugama said.
While addressing the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Transport at Parliament, he said that a relevant examination would be held in May to fill the long-standing vacancies for driving instructors.
“The Ministry is taking steps to use the sub depots throughout the country only to be used as parking for the buses and the main depots to manipulate the relevant administrative activities. Thus the Ministry would also be able to make bus the transportation as a systematic and efficient service throughout the country,” the State Minister said.
The State Minister also stated that qualified personnel will be recruited in the near future to fill the vacancies that exist for drivers and conductors through low-income earners.
Members of the Consultative Committee suggested that a programme should be initiated to educate drivers who work in government institutions about high-tech devices in modern vehicles. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

First of all Dilum should take action to stop road accidents and road deaths. Solution "speed control units" in buses, trucks and three wheels.
