The Sri Lankan Navy yesterday intercepted 41 persons illegally bound for Australia in a multi-day trawler, police said.
They said the illegal migrants had left from Chilaw and were arrested in the seas 780 nautical miles off the Galle Harbour.
Police said 32 males, four women and five children were among the arrested.
They were handed over to the Galle Harbour Police for further investigation.
