A total of 296 Sri Lankans who were stranded in South Korea (SK) and Qatar arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning, BIA duty Manager said.
He said 275 Sri Lankans departed from the Incheon International Airport by Korean air KE-9473 and they arrived at BIA at 12.30 a.m.
Most of the Sri Lankans who arrived had been employed in South Korea, he said.
Meanwhile, 21 Sri Lankans from Qatar arrived in the island by Qatar airways QR-668 at 1.20 a.m at the BIA.
PCR tests were conducted for all passengers who arrived in the country and all passengers were sent to quarantine centres following the tests, he added. (T.K.G. Kapila)

thus far SL handled the covid situation rather well. Well done to everyone involved!!!! Now its time for another step. Increase the speed of results or have a center established close to BIA. Since PCR tests are taken prior to boarding (allowed to board only if negative) and another is carried out upon landing, better hold the passengers in isolation for few hours pending results and if found negative send them home. perhaps get them to do another test after 10 days while getting them to self quarantine within this period. and use the facilities to the maximum potential for positive cases thus save on expenses i.e transport, food etc etc on negative cases.
