Cinnamon Grand held its quarterly Associates’ Meeting and Awards to recognise the outstanding performers in the hotel’s team for quarter two and three.
The ‘Grand Stars’ that were nominated by each department head and selected on a vote basis were acknowledged with a cash price, dinner for two vouchers, a bottle of sparkling and a letter off recognition from Sector Head-City Hotels Rohan Karr.
Having celebrated a fantastic Christmas and New Year preceded by an eventful six months where the Grand associates worked as well as played hard, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts Sector Head-City Hotels Rohan Karr recognised some of the most vibrant personalities of the team who’s commitment during the past months had helped the hotel stay ahead, despite new entrants to the market.
Among seven Grand Stars for the coveted Grand Super Star award in 2Q, Fabian Sylvester from Front Office and N. Sugeertharan from F&B received the honour each for their outstanding performances. Both have received ample TripAdvisor comments on their exemplary work and are favourites among customers.
A special GM’s Award was given to Nishantha Fernando from Engineering for volunteering to do a few refurbishments of the hotel during his off-time and for his perseverance and dedication.
From 3Q’s four Grand Stars, Sinethru Appuhamy from Banquet Operations and Tuemmal Roger from F&B received the title of Grand Super Stars. They too have been outstanding in the roles and have been a great strength to the hotel’s success.
The Grand Stars of 2Q excluding the Super Stars were, G. Weerathunga (F&B), Nandana Kumara (Kitchen), Thushantha Praneeth (F&B), Sakun Perera (Banqet Operations) and Oshan Shanaka (Housekeeping) while 3Q comprised of Kumara (Kitchen) and Sarath Pushpakumara (Kitchen).
“We have had a productive six months,” Karr said addressing over 500 associates.
“We have worked tirelessly, built businesses, achieved much, played well, partied hard and celebrated festivities. Through all this we have strengthened our bond as a family, which is the underlying factor of all our success.”
He went on to recognise the teams that worked tirelessly for the Christmas season, namely the Housekeeping, Engineering, Flower Room, Chefs and F&B staff – some of the key teams – who received standing ovation from the crowd.
