A huge fishing cat caught in a trap in a poultry farm in Dematapitiya in Katuneriya was saved by wildlife conservators and released to the Thabbowa sanctuary yesterday.

Wildlife officers said fishing cat about eight-years-old was four feet long and two feet tall and that it was the largest fishing cat they had found.

They said the fishing cat that entered the poultry farm to eat chicken had been caught in the trap.
