Two individuals sustained injuries when MP S. B. Dissanayake’s security personnel opened fire at a group of people obstructing his motorcade at Polpitiya in Ginigathhena last evening, police said. 

Commenting on the incident, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said a group of individuals had obstructed the vehicle transporting MP Dissanayake at 7.30 p.m. in Polpitiya and that security personnel occupying the back-up vehicle had opened fire to disperse them.  The injured were admitted to the Theligama Hospital.
