• Tourists were not wearing masks when moving with the people in  restaurants, shops, pharmacies and when travelling by trishaws

Residents of Hikkaduwa and several other areas in the south expressed concern about the tourists who ignored precautions of the health authorities.  

 They said the tourists were not wearing masks when moving with the people in restaurants, shops, pharmacies and when travelling by trishaws. They pointed out that the police often took to task only the local residents who ignored this requirement.   

However, a senior police official of the area commended the media for drawing his attention to the matter and promised to see that the tourists adhered to the preventive measures laid down by the health authorities.
