The Jaffna police yesterday carried out further excavations in the paddy field in Kottady where skeletal remains believed to be of a woman was found two days ago.
More skeletal remains suspected to be of a female and a stock of female clothing were found during the initial finding.
Police carried out yesterday’s excavations in the presence of Jaffna Magistrate A.S. Peter Paul and the JMO. Police said they suspected that a woman would have been killed and buried there together with her clothing. The Magistrate ordered police to refer the skeletal remains to the JMO for examination and to carry out further excavations.
