The Navy yesterday vehemently condemned the alleged comments made by Pubudu Jagoda of the Frontline Socialist Party at a press briefing, relating the Navy to an issue connected with the settlement of Muslims in the Wilpattu area.
The Navy stressed they were not maintaining any kind of tourist resorts in Silawathura, Mullikulam and Gangewadiya where naval establishments are in existence, as highlighted by Mr. Jagoda in his statements.
“Apart from that, the Government and the Navy have already given away alternative plots of land in the same area to people who claimed themselves as the legitimate owners of Silawathura and Mullikulam and improved the infrastructure and construction of new houses,” the navy said in a statement.
They said the Navy categorically denied this kind of baseless comments by people involved in politics, as it leads to discourage hard working and well-disciplined naval personnel as well as disputes among the communities.
