Allegedly involved in fraud and corruption
By Dayaseeli liyanage
The Cabinet is reported to have objected to a memo submitted by Minister Sagala Ratnayake seeking approval to extend the service period of an official of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).
Sources said this officer is known to have been allegedly involved in several cases of fraud and corruption and a file containing such instances had been submitted by Minister Arjuna Ranatunga who had also objected to the extension of the officer’s service.
The Cabinet had earlier approved his service for a period of three months as director of human resources though a memo had been submitted requesting an extension of six months with the Cabinet recommending that another officer be appointed after the three months extension.
