SIS Chief claims Rs.50Mn from MP Nalin Bandara

Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General Suresh Sallay has sent a letter of demand to Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Nalin Bandara demanding Rs.50 million as damages for allegedly making defamatory remarks on him.  

The Lawyer of Major General Salley in his Letter of Demand also stated that his client would take legal action against MP Nalin Bandara if he failed to pay the amount within two weeks.  


Major General Suresh Sallay stated that the allegations made against him by the Parliamentarian were false and baseless.  


The Letter also stated that the at least two occasions the MP had made several false allegations against Major General Sallay including that Zahran had links with Major General Sallay.  


“I am also instructed to deny your allegation that my client (Major General Sallay) has not completed the military course in India and to state that in fact, my client has completed the said military course prior to returning to Sri Lanka,” the letter stated.  


On March 19, Major General Sallay also lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over a statement made MP Nalin Bandara.  


Maj. Gen. Sallay in his complaint to the CID stated that the statements made by MP Bandara have created hatred and animosity which could pose a threat to the security of both himself and his family members.
