Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed the National Research Council (NRC) to expedite the process of scientific confirmation of medicines and treatments evolved locally for Covid-19.
The Prime Minister has directed the Council to confirm through scientific tests, the Ayurvedic treatment recommended by the Colombo University, the Ayurvedic treatment developed by Dr. Harsha Subasinghe and Indika Jagoda and Ayurvedic syrup developed by Ayurvedic practitioner Dhammika Bandara.
Prime Minister’s Office said that a research paper will be presented on the syrup developed by Mr. Bandara by Professors of the Rajarata University’s Medical Faculty and five senior Professors specialised in biology representing all Medical Faculties of the country, together with National Research Council’s Chairman Professor Hemantha Dodampahala engaging in the research on the syrup developed by Dhammika Bandara.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Rajapaksa had earlier instructed the NRC to submit a report after studying the COVID-19 vaccines introduced globally.
Accordingly, the NRC has handed over the CDA report on the three best vaccines for COVID-19 to Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
