A constable attached to a police station in Colombo was arrested by the Weerawila police on suspicion of forcibly taking two chickens away from a poultry farm in the area.
He had been arrested on a complaint received from the owner of the poultry farm at Gangasiripura in Tissamaharama.
The suspect pleaded guilty when he was produced before Tissamaharama District Judge and Magistrate Kanchanamali Susantha Gunasekara. He was released on cash bail of Rs.10, 000 and personal bail in Rs.100, 000.
Police said the suspect PC who attended a party with some of his friends had gone with one of them to the poultry farm and asked for two chickens. However, when the owner refused, the two men had grabbed two chickens by force and taken them away.
